The best way of finding out if a car is right for you is to hear from people who actually own and use it regularly. This week’s ‘Real-Person Driving Profile’ comes from Karen C. in Massachusetts, who happens to blog at 3 Garnets & 2 Sapphires. Find out what she drives, why, and what she hopes her next car will be!

Driving Mama Real Person Driving Profile - Karen C.

Current Car Info

Year/Make/Model:

  • 2007 Honda Odyssey

Primary use:

  • Family

3 PROS:

  1. Power doors with remote are extremely convenient when you have children.
  2. The minivan can seat up to 8 people even with a few booster/car seats.
  3. Feels very solid to drive.

3 CONS:

  1. There is little control over the defroster/defogger. It is either on full blast or off.
  2. I am about 5’4″ and need to adjust the seat to be move up quite far to reach the pedals comfortably. It difficult to slide in and out of the seat in this position, especially when bundled up for the winter weather.
  3. The power windows can be locked so that only the driver can open and close them. This includes the front passenger side window. It would be preferable that only the center and back rows of windows be locked, since an adult is usually sitting in the front passenger seat.

Recommended:

  • Yes, I would recommend the Honda Odyssey to a family of 5 or more. It is roomy, reliable, and functional.

This reminds me I need to take a pic and fill out the profile for you. I need to do that this coming weekend! Bug me on Sunday evening if you haven’t heard from me yet! I need to figure out what car I’d choose if I could choose a new one too!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my 2011 Ford Escape. I bought in new in 2010 and plan to drive it until it dies…I’m an empty-nester that has grandchildren, so I made sure it was kid friendly–easy to get in/out of carseats and the “i-wanna-ride-in-nanna’s-car” DVD player! Stopping by from the #SITSBlogging

Interesting review. How about repairs? My ex-husband has a car everything something breaks down it costs an arm and a leg. I’ve noticed a lot of the newer cars too somethings are custom and you have to order them and can’t just go to auto-zone to get it.

    comment luv from SITS

love the back up camera but I found that I still used the old fashion method because I didn’t trust the camera but would double check it just to be sure it was what was actually back there. Silly I know. LOL. luv hearing about new cars

The first factors I think of in a car are economy and safety. Then brand.. A backup camera would be nice and if you have the kids, the DVD player would be nice,
